Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is a draft prepared for app store submission. It describes, in plain language, what [Fretla legal entity name — e.g. "Fretla Technologies Ltd."] ("Fretla", "we", "us") actually collects and does in the Fretla app and on this website. Please have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer before publishing, and fill in the bracketed company details below.

1. Who we are

Fretla is a marketplace platform that connects people who need to move freight, large items, or oversized loads ("Load Owners") with independent truck, van, and vehicle owners or drivers ("Drivers") who can carry them. This policy covers the Fretla mobile apps (iOS and Android) and this website.

Data controller: [Fretla legal entity name], registered at [registered company address], [country]. Contact: dispatch@fretla.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information when you create an account and use the app:

CategoryExamples
Account informationFull name, email address, phone number, account type (Load Owner, Truck Owner, Fleet Owner)
Location dataPickup and drop-off addresses and coordinates you enter; a Driver's live location while an assignment is active, so it can be shared with the matched Load Owner for tracking
Vehicle & document dataVehicle type, capacity, plate number, and — for Drivers — driving license number and expiry
Payment & wallet dataWallet balance and transaction history, payment method selection (in-app wallet or cash on delivery). Card details are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe — we do not store full card numbers
CommunicationsMessages exchanged between a Load Owner and Driver about a shipment; support tickets you open with us
Device & usage dataPush notification token, app version, device type, and general usage/crash diagnostics

3. How we use this information

  • To create and manage your account, and verify Driver eligibility (license, vehicle details)
  • To match Load Owners with available Drivers and calculate estimated routes, pricing, and ETAs
  • To process payments and wallet top-ups, and to maintain accurate transaction records
  • To enable in-app messaging between a Load Owner and the Driver assigned to their shipment
  • To send push notifications about order status, offers, and account activity
  • To provide customer support and investigate reported issues
  • To detect fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
  • To comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

4. How we share information

  • With the other party to a shipment. When a Driver accepts a load, we share the Load Owner's pickup/drop-off details and contact info with the Driver, and the Driver's name, vehicle, and live location with the Load Owner, so the delivery can happen.
  • Payment processing. Stripe processes card payments and wallet top-ups on our behalf.
  • Infrastructure providers. We use Supabase to host our database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Push notifications. We use Expo's push notification service to deliver alerts to your device.
  • Legal reasons. If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Fretla, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If Fretla is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Location data specifically

We collect precise location data in two situations: (1) when you enter a pickup or drop-off address to book or list a shipment, and (2) from a Driver's device while they have an active, accepted assignment, so the Load Owner can track their delivery in real time. Drivers can control location permissions through their device settings; disabling location access will prevent live tracking and may prevent receiving nearby load offers.

6. Data retention

We keep account and transaction data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations (typically up to [X years — confirm with your accountant/lawyer]). Messages and support tickets are retained to resolve disputes and improve support quality. You can request earlier deletion — see Account & Data Deletion.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Nigerian users have these rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023; users in the European Economic Area have similar rights under the GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, email dispatch@fretla.com.

8. Account & data deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. See our Account & Data Deletion page for instructions on what gets deleted, what we may need to retain, and how long it takes.

9. Children's privacy

Fretla is not directed at children, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and a PCI-compliant payment processor — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (including Stripe and Supabase) may process data outside your home country. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
